About the Role

This is a first opinion general practice position across three days per week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday), designed for a confident vet ready to build and develop their own client base with the backing of an experienced team. You’ll enjoy a genuine long weekend every week to recharge and enjoy life outside the clinic.

Rota commitments are minimal and manageable: a 1:4 Saturday branch rotation and 1:8 Sunday hospital rotation, plus one bank holiday per year at the Mandeville Hospital in Northolt. Crucially, there are no on-call requirements—your evenings are your own.

Hayes End is perfectly positioned in West London, a friendly suburban area with excellent transport links including the new Elizabeth Line at Hayes & Harlington station, plus on-site parking (a rare luxury in London). The practice is particularly well-equipped for surgical work, with a full surgical theatre, dental x-ray facilities, and strong support from the regional team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first opinion general practice consultations and treatments for small animals
  • Build and manage your own client base with professional autonomy
  • Perform routine and surgical procedures (the practice has excellent surgical facilities and equipment)
  • Collaborate with an experienced part-time senior vet, experienced RVN team, and trainee nurses
  • Seek clinical support from the regional head vet and regional manager for complex cases
  • Participate in Saturday branch and Sunday hospital rotations as scheduled
  • Cover one bank holiday per year at Mandeville Hospital in Northolt

Requirements

  • Qualified veterinary surgeon registered with the RCVS
  • Confidence in first opinion general practice
  • Ability to work independently while drawing on team support when needed
  • Willingness to participate in the minimal rota commitments (weekend and bank holiday cover)
