About the Role

Great Western Exotics is one of the UK’s leading avian and exotic animal referral hospitals, welcoming patients from across the country. You’ll join a highly skilled, multidisciplinary team delivering both first opinion and referral-level care to a fascinatingly diverse exotic caseload—from parrots to pythons, meerkats to macaws. This is an opportunity to practice at the highest level with advanced diagnostics and 24-hour patient care at your fingertips.

As part of the IVC Evidensia Referral Network, you’ll tap into a huge breadth of collaborative expertise across disciplines and access advanced diagnostic and treatment resources while retaining the unique identity and spirit of Great Western Exotics. You’ll have opportunities to speak at national and international CPD events and contribute to research.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide referral-level and first opinion care to exotic animal patients across a diverse, varied caseload
  • Utilise advanced diagnostic and treatment resources available at the hospital
  • Contribute clinical expertise and leadership within the multidisciplinary team
  • Share knowledge, nurture talent, and work collaboratively across the IVC Evidensia network
  • Engage with the wider clinical community through CPD events, speaking opportunities, and research
  • Support a workplace culture grounded in curiosity, compassion, and teamwork

Requirements

  • RCVS-registered veterinary surgeon (or eligible for registration)
  • Significant experience in avian and exotic medicine
  • Advanced practitioner status or postgraduate qualifications in exotic animal medicine (CertAVP, DipECZM, or equivalent highly desirable)
