Veterinary Receptionist

About the Role

You’ll be the first point of contact for clients visiting or calling Grove Lodge Veterinary Group, one of the region’s largest small animal practices. This part-time role offers 24 hours per week on a flexible schedule (Monday, Wednesday, Friday; no Saturdays), working shifts between 8 am and 7 pm. You’ll split your time across the practice’s seven locations in Brighton, Portslade, Southwick, Lancing, Broadwater, Tarring, and Durrington—a car is essential for this role.

The practice cultivates a warm, supportive culture where team members genuinely enjoy coming to work. With 17 vets and 26 nurses (including senior veterinary nurses and veterinary care assistants), you’ll be part of a well-resourced team that’s passionate about delivering excellent client care.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet clients face-to-face and manage enquiries via phone and email with empathy and professionalism
• Book and manage appointments across all seven practice locations
• Maintain accurate client records in the practice management system
• Process payments and handle financial transactions securely
• Support the wider team in delivering Grove Lodge’s standard of excellent service
• Adapt to different sites and shift patterns as needed across the multi-location practice

Requirements

• Strong customer service skills with the ability to handle emotional situations with empathy
• Experience in a customer-facing role (in person and/or by telephone)
• Solid IT and data entry skills with meticulous attention to detail
• Excellent teamwork and communication abilities
• Current driving licence and reliable access to a vehicle (essential)
• Knowledge of the veterinary industry is helpful but not essential

Part of IVC Evidensia, the UK’s largest veterinary group, Grove Lodge combines the support and resources of a large organisation with the personal touch of a community practice. The team includes 17 vets and 26 nurses (including senior veterinary nurses), supported by veterinary care assistants and administrative staff, all working to provide exceptional care for dogs, cats, small pets, and exotics.
