About the Role

This is a permanent, full-time position offering a four-day working week—genuinely rare in veterinary practice. You’ll join a friendly, diverse nursing team at a hospital-standard facility in Chippenham, supporting advanced surgical and diagnostic work in a collaborative environment where your contribution is valued.

The Hale Veterinary Group operates Tier 3 Veterinary Hospital status with ISFM Cat Friendly Practice gold accreditation. There are no out-of-hours commitments; a dedicated night team handles all emergency coverage, so your evenings and weekends are your own. Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-standard nursing care across the hospital department, working alongside a close-knit team committed to clinical excellence
  • Support advanced surgical procedures including soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery performed in-house
  • Assist with diagnostic imaging (digital radiography, dental X-rays, ultrasound, laparoscopy, video endoscopy including bronchoscopy and gastroscopy)
  • Contribute to in-house laboratory operations
  • Champion cat-friendly nursing practices as part of the practice’s ISFM gold award commitment
  • Mentor and support trainee nurses, helping develop the next generation of veterinary professionals
  • Maintain high standards of nursing care and animal welfare across all procedures

Requirements

  • Current RCVS registration as a Registered Veterinary Nurse
  • Commitment to high-standard clinical nursing care
  • A “can-do” attitude and genuine passion for the profession
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a diverse team
  • Motivation to help develop junior nursing staff (advantageous but not essential)
