About the Role

This part-time position offers a diverse range of clinical support responsibilities across a busy specialist referral hospital. Working twilight shifts (Monday to Wednesday, 4pm–midnight), you’ll be at the heart of theatre operations, patient care, and laboratory work in a state-of-the-art facility specializing in advanced treatment for small animals and rehabilitation services.

You’ll develop practical skills across multiple areas of veterinary nursing support, from handling and restraint to equipment sterilization and theatre procedures. The role sits within a large, supportive team dedicated to fostering professional growth and gold-standard patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle patient restraint, monitoring, and general patient care across the hospital
  • Maintain and manage kennels and animal housing areas
  • Support theatre operations, including assisting with surgical procedures and managing theatre cleaning and closing procedures
  • Process laboratory samples and conduct routine laboratory tasks
  • Sterilize surgical instruments and manage equipment maintenance
  • Assist with hydrotherapy sessions and support rehabilitation services
  • Manage dispensing duties and support medicine preparation
  • Maintain clinical areas to the highest standards of cleanliness and safety

Requirements

  • Previous experience in an animal care assistant or kennel assistant role
  • Proactive, enthusiastic, and approachable attitude with strong teamwork skills
  • Ability to work independently with self-motivation and initiative
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent multitasking ability and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
  • Physical capability for handling animals and performing manual duties
