About the Role

This is a dedicated out-of-hours veterinary position at a well-equipped 24/7 emergency and critical care facility serving Wiltshire and surrounding areas. You’ll work nights—ideally Friday and Saturday, though other patterns are negotiable—providing emergency cover to member practices and direct clients. The role sits within an established OOH team that’s been delivering high-quality emergency care since 2018, and you’ll have the full support of experienced nurses and colleagues including Advanced Practitioners in Emergency and Critical Care.

You’ll handle a diverse emergency caseload in a supportive, team-driven environment where career development is taken seriously. Unlike many OOH roles, this team is committed to discussing your longer-term goals and supporting progression alongside your night commitments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide emergency and critical care to a varied caseload during allocated night shifts
  • Work alongside dedicated registered veterinary nurses and evening support staff
  • Develop surgical and medical expertise within small animal emergency medicine
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment supporting member practices across Wiltshire
  • Maintain high standards of care using fully equipped facilities (digital x-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, EPOC, in-house lab, blood products)

Requirements

  • Registered veterinary surgeon (RCVS)
  • Confident approach to emergency and critical care
  • Ability to work nights as part of a flexible rota
  • Team-focused attitude and communication skills

Harris, Hill & Gibbons (trading as MiNightVet Trowbridge) is part of CVS Group and operates a dedicated 24/7 out-of-hours emergency and critical care facility in Trowbridge. Since 2018, the team has been providing emergency veterinary cover to member practices across Wiltshire and direct emergency care to clients. The practice is equipped with digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, EPOC blood analysers, in-house laboratory services, and blood products—giving the team the tools to deliver gold-standard emergency care. The host practice includes certificate holders in small animal medicine and surgery, creating a clinical environment rich in expertise.
