Small Animal Vet

Apply before: Apr 18, 2026

Up to £60,000/yr DOE
Great Yarmouth, East of England
Full Time
Ready to join a supportive, growing team where you'll have autonomy AND excellent backup? Haven Veterinary Surgeons is looking for an experienced small animal vet who's confident in surgery and wants space to develop—and help others develop too.

About the Role

Haven Veterinary Surgeons is seeking an experienced small animal vet to join their dynamic first-opinion practice in Great Yarmouth. This is a full-time position with flexibility available to discuss working arrangements that suit you. You’ll work within a supportive, friendly team that genuinely invests in colleague development—if you’re a confident surgeon with an interest in mentoring others through routine procedures and dental work, this could be your next move.

The practice sits within a larger regional network and benefits from an RCVS-accredited hospital and out-of-hours centre less than a mile away, so you’ll never be isolated. The next 12 months promise exciting growth: new clinical projects, team expansion, and an enhanced nursing role in Schedule 3 procedures. You’ll have autonomy to shape your role while being supported by a Practice Director, Head Nurse, and Head Receptionist.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver confident, high-quality surgical and consultation work across the small animal caseload
  • Support fellow vets in developing competence with routine surgeries and dental procedures
  • Contribute to the practice’s clinical projects and team growth initiatives
  • Work collaboratively with the nursing team to maximise their expanding role in Schedule 3 procedures
  • Engage with the wider regional network and out-of-hours centre for professional development and case support

Requirements

  • Qualified veterinary surgeon with proven experience in small animal surgery and consultations
  • Demonstrated confidence and competence in routine surgical procedures and dental work
  • Genuine interest in supporting colleague development and team mentoring
  • Professional, energetic approach with a commitment to excellence
  • RCVS registration and VDS fees current

Benefits

  • Salary: Up to £60,000 FTE (depending on experience)
  • Professional Development: Generous CPD budget, funded certificate opportunities, and leadership training to support your progression
  • Holiday: 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, with the option to buy or sell up to 2 weeks (plus 1 additional day every year for up to 5 years)
  • Support: Full VISA sponsorship and relocation allowance available
  • Professional Fees: VDS and RCVS fees covered
  • Wellbeing: CVS pension scheme, employee assistance programme, voluntary private medical insurance, and health cash plan
  • Family Support: Excellent maternity, paternity, and joint parental leave; fertility and pregnancy loss policy
  • Other Perks: Staff discount and relocation package

About the Practice

Haven Veterinary Surgeons is a dynamic, forward-thinking first-opinion practice in Great Yarmouth, part of the CVS Group. The team is built on values of support, honesty, and loyalty—excellence is the goal, but it’s pursued collaboratively. Everyone is encouraged to pursue their own interests and develop their skills within a thriving learning culture.

The practice is exceptionally well-equipped with orthopaedic kits, dental X-ray, radiography, ultrasound machines, in-house laboratory analysers, multi-parameter monitors, endoscopy, and laparoscopic equipment. Being linked to an RCVS-accredited hospital and OOH centre nearby means you’ll have access to specialist support and referral pathways while maintaining your first-opinion focus.
