Love the idea of true work-life balance in a thriving mixed practice? Hawick Veterinary Practice offers genuine flexibility, a varied caseload, and stunning Scottish Borders scenery—plus you're just an hour from Edinburgh, Newcastle, or Carlisle when you fancy a city break.

🕐 Schedule & Rota

1 night per week on-call; 1 in 5 weekends with Monday off in lieu; on-call support available if needed

About the Role

This is a varied mixed veterinary position where no two days are quite the same. You’ll work across small animal (60%), large animal (30%), and equine (10%) cases, with genuine scope to develop specialist interests—something the practice actively encourages and supports. The role offers flexibility: work full-time or part-time on a 25-hour week (3 days) with evening surgeries finishing at 6pm, 1 in 5 weekend cover with Monday off in return, and 1 night per week on call (with backup support available if needed).

Based in the beautiful Scottish Borders, Hawick is a traditional market town surrounded by stunning walking, biking, and outdoor space. It’s a genuine community with long-standing client relationships and a relaxed pace of life—yet you’re never isolated, sitting just over an hour’s drive from Edinburgh, Newcastle, and Carlisle.

The practice has invested significantly in modern facilities, including multiparameter anaesthetic monitoring, ultrasound, digital radiography, and dental X-ray capability. You’ll join a forward-thinking, purpose-built RCVS-accredited team that holds both RCVS PSS Core standard (aiming for GP status) and an ISFM Gold award, plus the Bronze Investors in the Environment Sustainability award.
