In-house out-of-hours service; specific rota frequency and details to be discussed with the practice.

About the Role

You’ll be joining an established, independent small animal practice in Conwy as their sixth vet, working within a genuinely supportive and collaborative environment. This is a permanent position offering flexibility—choose between a standard 35-hour full-time week or part-time hours tailored to your lifestyle. The practice prioritises thorough case management with 20-minute consultations built into the schedule, giving you breathing room to deliver quality care without the corporate rush.

The team spans experience levels from recent graduates through to vets with over 20 years in practice, creating a diverse, learning-focused culture. You’ll have a protected ops day each week for surgical development, regular time off, and structured admin periods—not a luxury, but built into how the practice runs. The practice operates its own in-house out-of-hours service, giving you continuity and control over emergency cases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver primary small animal veterinary care across medicine, surgery, and preventative health
  • Develop and refine surgical skills during dedicated protected ops time
  • Collaborate with a team of five other vets, all with different experience levels and specialist interests

  • Contribute to multidisciplinary care pathways, including pain management, physiotherapy, acupuncture, and laser therapy
  • Access visiting specialists for case collaboration and complex problem-solving
  • Participate in the practice’s in-house out-of-hours service (details to be discussed)

Requirements

  • Qualified veterinary surgeon (MRCVS or equivalent)
  • New graduates and confident early-career vets actively encouraged to apply
  • Genuine commitment to patient care and clinical excellence
  • Collaborative mindset—you’ll thrive in a team-focused environment
  • Willingness to develop surgical skills and embrace continued learning

Benefits

  • Competitive salary: £40,000–£90,000 per year depending on experience
  • Flexible working: 35-hour full-time week or part-time hours to suit your lifestyle
  • Generous holiday allowance
  • Unlimited CPD funding—certificates, courses, new skills, all fully supported
  • Protected surgical development day each week
  • Regular guaranteed time off
  • Structured admin time built into your schedule
  • Access to state-of-the-art equipment: CT scanner, hydrotherapy pool, and treadmill
  • Multidisciplinary care support with pain management, physiotherapy, acupuncture, and laser therapy
  • Visiting specialist access for case collaboration
  • In-house out-of-hours service (continuity and control over emergency work)
  • Career development and progression opportunities within an independent, growing practice

About the Practice

This is an independent, well-equipped small animal practice with a clear ethos centred on patient care, clinical freedom, and genuine staff wellbeing. The team currently comprises five vets plus support staff, and they’re expanding to bring on a sixth colleague. The practice makes its own decisions, prioritising quality clinical work and their team over corporate targets—a genuine independent operation.

The facility is modern and well-resourced, featuring a CT scanner, hydrotherapy pool, treadmill, and an in-house out-of-hours service. The nursing team is trained in-house, and the practice actively supports visiting specialists for complex cases. As they continue to grow, they’re seeking someone who values collaboration, continuous learning, and a workplace where downtime and clinical autonomy are respected.
