Night Veterinary Surgeon

About the Role

Iffley Vets in Oxfordshire has launched a dedicated night service as part of their expanded 24-hour operation, and they’re seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to lead emergency care during overnight hours. This is a dedicated night role with a 7-on-14-off working pattern—designed to give you genuine downtime between shifts and avoid the burnout trap so many night workers face.

You’ll be working alongside a fantastic team of experienced RVNs who thrive in the fast-paced ECC environment, bringing clinical excellence and genuine support to every case. The practice is progressive and friendly, with strong team spirit and high job satisfaction at its core. If you’re currently in ECC work or considering a move into emergency medicine, this newly opening service offers the perfect launchpad.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead emergency and critical care cases during night shifts across the 24-hour service
• Manage acute presentations, triage cases, and make clinical decisions independently
• Work collaboratively with experienced RVNs to deliver high-standard patient care
• Contribute to the clinical development and protocols of the new night service
• Maintain comprehensive clinical records and communication with day teams

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years’ veterinary experience
• Confident handling emergency and critical care cases
• Current ECC experience or demonstrable commitment to developing ECC expertise
• Ability to work independently and decisively under pressure
• Full UK veterinary registration
