About the Role

You’ll step into a senior nursing position covering surgical and anaesthetic work, inpatient care, and nurse clinics at the Polbeth branch. The role includes stock management and a focus on maintaining high clinical standards and RCVS Practice Standards compliance. As a senior team member, you’ll help drive practice development and mentor colleagues.

This is a full-time position (40 hours over 4 days) with set shifts between 8:30am–6:30pm, Monday to Friday. You’ll spend one day per week at the sister branch in Corstorphine, with no out-of-hours duties—a dedicated night team in Dunfermline provides OOH cover across the group.

Based in West Lothian, Scotland, you’ll work in a one vet, one nurse practice supported by a dedicated Client Care Advisor. Visiting specialists in orthopaedics, ophthalmology, and dermatology extend the clinical scope available to your team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Surgical and anaesthetic nursing across a range of small animal cases
  • Inpatient care management and monitoring
  • Running nurse clinics and client education
  • Stock control and inventory management
  • Maintaining high standards of health & safety and RCVS Practice Standards compliance
  • Supporting the development and growth of the Polbeth practice
  • Contributing to a collaborative, inclusive team environment
  • Occasional cover at other Inglis Vets branches as required

Requirements

  • Fully qualified and registered Veterinary Nurse
  • Senior-level responsibility experience and confidence
  • Motivated, adaptable, and hands-on approach to clinical work
  • Genuine enthusiasm for team-based practice nursing
  • Strong commitment to excellent clinical standards and outstanding patient/client care
  • Clear, confident communicator who values collaboration

Polbeth is part of Inglis Vets, a busy, well-established veterinary hospital group with 8 branches and 1 veterinary hospital across Fife and Central Scotland. The group is committed to delivering outstanding patient care and provides its own out-of-hours cover, ensuring continuity and quality treatment around the clock. The Cowdenbeath branch is a recognised clinical training centre for Edinburgh RDSVS veterinary students, and multiple branches are RCVS-approved training practices reflecting a strong commitment to education and clinical excellence.
