Looking for a rewarding senior nursing step within a friendly, close-knit team? Join Inglis Vets in Polbeth for a 15-month fixed-term role where you'll enjoy a 4-day week, no out-of-hours, and the support of a large, well-established hospital group.

About the Role

You’ll take on a senior nursing position at Inglis Vets’ Polbeth branch, a one-vet practice within a larger group of eight branches across Fife and Central Scotland. This is a full-time, fixed-term maternity cover role lasting 15 months, working four days per week (40 hours) with set shifts between 8:30am–6:30pm, Monday to Friday. One day per week will be spent at the sister branch in Corstorphine. The best part? There’s no out-of-hours cover here—a dedicated night team in Dunfermline handles all emergency work, so your evenings and weekends are genuinely yours.

Your role will span surgical and anaesthetic nursing, inpatient care, nurse clinics, stock management, and health & safety compliance. As a senior team member, you’ll also help drive the practice forward and mentor the development of the Polbeth team, making this ideal for an experienced RVN looking for their next step in a supportive environment.

  • Deliver surgical and anaesthetic nursing, inpatient care, and nurse-led clinics
  • Manage stock and medical supplies
  • Uphold RCVS Practice Standards and health & safety compliance
  • Support practice development and mentor junior nursing staff
  • Work collaboratively with the one veterinary surgeon and Client Care Advisor on the Polbeth team
  • Provide high-quality patient care and outstanding client communication
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive working culture

Requirements

  • Fully qualified and registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN)
  • Proven experience working in small animal practice
  • Confidence taking on senior-level responsibilities and mentoring others
  • Motivated, adaptable, and hands-on approach to work
  • Genuine enthusiasm for teamwork in a close-knit environment
  • Strong commitment to excellent clinical standards and patient/client care
  • Clear, confident communicator who values collaboration

Benefits

  • Time Off: 6.8 weeks annual leave plus your birthday as a paid day off
  • Wellbeing: Enhanced family-friendly policies (maternity/paternity/adoption/shared parental and surrogacy pay), Private Medical Insurance, Cycle to Work scheme, discounted gym membership, and non-accidental injury support
  • Professional Development: £550 CPD allowance with 24 hours paid leave, certificate support, access to IVC Evidensia Academy, Vetlexicon online encyclopaedia, research funding opportunities, and quality improvement programmes
  • Professional Memberships: VDS cover and RCVS fees paid
  • Financial & Other: Pension (5% employee/3% employer), Pawsome Benefits (reward gateway discounts), discounted staff pet care
  • Note: Some benefits may be pro-rata based on the 15-month contract length
