About the Role

You’ll join an RVCS-accredited first opinion practice that’s redefining what good shift patterns look like. Working four days a week on an 8:00am–6:00pm or 8:30am–6:30pm rota (with paid lunch breaks), you’ll enjoy genuine breathing space while contributing to a busy, varied caseload. The practice runs its own 24/7 emergency service with dedicated night nurses, which means no weeknight on-call for this role—just a manageable 1:5 Saturday and Sunday rota plus an equal share of bank holidays. Kings Veterinary Centre is moving to a brand-new hospital at the end of 2025, just a short distance from the current Melton Mowbray site, offering a fresh start in state-of-the-art facilities.

Your days will rotate between inpatient care, theatre work, and consulting roles, giving you the variety and skills development that keeps nursing interesting. The practice spans five branches plus a hospital, all serving the Leicestershire community with bespoke, affordable care.

Key Responsibilities

• Rotate between inpatient, theatre, and consulting duties across a small animal caseload
• Provide high-standard nursing care within a first opinion RVCS-accredited practice
• Contribute to the practice’s own 24/7 emergency service (via weekend rota participation)
• Support the multi-branch network in delivering quality patient and client care
• Engage with community initiatives and local pet charities that the practice actively supports

Requirements

• Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) qualification
• Experience in small animal nursing
• Willingness to participate in the 1:5 weekend rota (currently 1:8)

Benefits

• Salary: £15.00–£15.50 per hour depending on experience (Starting from £31,200 per annum)

About the Practice

Kings Veterinary Centre is a first opinion RVCS-accredited practice with five branches and a hospital serving the Melton Mowbray area and surrounding regions. The practice provides 24-hour, 365-day on-site emergency care and is deeply rooted in the local community, actively supporting pet charities and delivering bespoke, affordable care to every patient and client. An exciting development is underway: the practice will relocate to a brand-new, purpose-built hospital at the end of 2025.
