Ready to launch your vet career with real mentorship, zero sole charge until you're ready, and weekends that actually exist? Kingston Veterinary Group is looking for a newly qualified vet to join their Tier-3 hospital in Hull—where teaching new grads isn't an afterthought, it's their specialty.

🕐 Schedule & Rota

No out-of-hours shifts, Sundays, or bank holiday work required. Role includes alternate Saturday shifts as part of standard 40-hour week.

About the Role

You’ll be joining Kingston Veterinary Group’s Park Street Hospital in Hull, a thriving Tier-3 veterinary hospital that blends first-opinion and referral work. This is a structured full-time role working 40 hours across four 10-hour shifts per week (alternate Saturdays included), with no out-of-hours, Sundays, or bank holiday commitments. Hull offers a genuine quality-of-life advantage: lower cost of living, a vibrant city centre with marina development, and easy access to the Yorkshire coastline—all within walking distance of the hospital from the train and bus stations.

The practice operates across multiple branches with a substantial team of 40 vets and RVNs, meaning you’ll never feel unsupported. Advanced facilities include colour doppler ultrasound, CT, MRI, digital radiography, endoscopy suites, laparoscopy, and a dedicated two-suite dental branch. The team includes certificate holders in diagnostic imaging, small animal medicine, dentistry, and oral surgery, so learning opportunities are built into every shift.

This is genuinely tailored support: no sole charge shifts until you’re confident, regular check-ins with your line manager and designated mentor, adjusted appointment lengths to suit your pace, and a clear plan for surgical progression. Mentorship comes from your assigned mentor, line manager, and senior vets across the practice—this hospital has a proven track record of growing new graduates into confident clinicians.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver first-opinion and referral small animal care across the Park Street Hospital and branch locations
  • Develop clinical skills under structured supervision, progressing from supported shifts to independent practice at your own pace
  • Participate in advanced surgical cases including TPLO, fracture repair, and soft tissue procedures as you build confidence
  • Engage with the practice’s telemedicine access to specialists, enabling real-time case discussion and learning
  • Contribute to the practice’s commitment to quality care across both general practice and referral caseloads
  • Attend mentoring sessions and structured development check-ins to support your progression

Requirements

  • Recently qualified veterinary surgeon (newly registered with RCVS)
  • Eligible to work in the UK with appropriate right-to-work documentation
  • RCVS registration and professional membership
  • Enthusiasm to learn and develop in a supportive team environment
  • No prior experience required—this role is designed for graduates stepping into practice for the first time

Benefits

  • Salary & Growth: £36,000 per annum with salary increase in year 2
  • Leave & Time Off: 6.6 weeks annual holiday plus your birthday off
  • Professional Development: £1,250 per year via the Care Fund to spend on CPD and development
  • Wellbeing & Insurance: Private medical insurance, 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme, company pension with IVC contribution
  • Additional Perks: Cycle to Work and Green Car schemes, retail discounts and cashback, discounted pet care at IVC practices
  • Professional Support: Paid professional memberships (RCVS and others)
  • No Tie-In: No financial tie-in contracts
  • Learning Community: Access to IVC Evidensia’s global Graduate Academy, research opportunities, and the IVC Evidensia Research Fund
