Looking for a senior role that's hands-on without the headache? Join Kingswood Vets and lead complex surgery cases in a purpose-built hospital, with genuine work-life balance and a supportive team that has your back.

🕐 Schedule & Rota

1 in 4 Saturday mornings (08:00–14:00). This is weekend daytime work, not night shift/overnight on-call.

About the Role

Kingswood Vets is seeking an experienced Senior Veterinary Surgeon to join their well-equipped small animal practice in Woking. This is a predominantly clinical position perfect for a confident, hands-on clinician who thrives with surgical variety and complex cases. You’ll work across four days per week with just 1 in 4 Saturday mornings (08:00–14:00), giving you genuine weekday flexibility. Part-time arrangements are also welcome.

The practice recently invested in a purpose-built hospital facility, and you’ll be contributing to a thriving, multidisciplinary team that balances rewarding private caseload with meaningful charity work including RSPCA partnerships. This role allows clinical autonomy and progression without the pressure of full management responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality clinical care with a strong focus on surgery and complex procedures
  • Manage a varied and interesting caseload with clinical autonomy
  • Support and mentor junior vets when required, contributing to team development
  • Maintain excellent clinical standards and compliance across all cases
  • Contribute positively to the wider team culture and client experience
  • Work across two sites: the main Woking practice and sister branch in Chertsey

Requirements

  • Qualified Veterinary Surgeon with solid UK experience
  • Strong surgical skills and confidence with more complex procedures
  • Pragmatic, patient-focused clinician who enjoys collaborative working
  • Excellent communication skills with both clients and colleagues
  • Demonstrable commitment to continued professional development and clinical excellence

Benefits

  • Leave & Wellbeing: 6.6 weeks’ holiday including bank holidays, plus your birthday off; private medical insurance; enhanced family-friendly leave and pay; 24/7 confidential Employee Assistance Programme
  • Professional Development: £1,250 CPD allowance plus 40 hours paid CPD time; access to Vetlexicon online resources; certificate and advanced learning support; world-leading IVC Evidensia Training Centres; £1,250 annual Care Fund per vet
  • Professional Support: BVA membership; VDS cover; RCVS fees covered
  • Lifestyle Perks: Cycle to Work and Green Car schemes (where eligible); retail discounts and cashback offers; reduced-cost veterinary care for your own pets
  • Relocation & Welcome: Relocation allowance up to £8,000; welcome bonus up to £10,000

About the Practice

Kingswood Vets is an established practice serving Woking and the surrounding community, with a sister branch in Chertsey. In 2018, the practice relocated to a purpose-built hospital facility featuring four consult rooms, two theatres, dedicated dental and imaging suites, and separate dog and cat wards. The team manages a diverse caseload of well-insured clients who prioritise quality care, alongside rewarding partnership work with the RSPCA and other charitable organisations.

The location offers excellent lifestyle appeal: easy access to the Surrey Hills, RHS Garden Wisley, fast links to London, and proximity to Heathrow, Gatwick, and major motorways (M3, M25). Woking combines vibrant local amenities with rural escape routes and strong transport connectivity.
