About the Role

Lancaster Vets is seeking an experienced RVN to join their well-established small animal practice in Lancashire. This is a full-time position offering genuine work-life balance: a 39-hour week with no out-of-hours or on-call duties, and a 1:4 Saturday rota (with Friday off when you work Saturday). You’ll be part of a close-knit team of 3 vets, 4 RVNs, and a practice manager who collectively bring over 100 years of experience to the role.

The practice has grown significantly since 1999 and is currently developing a second site, creating an exciting period of expansion. Based in the vibrant city of Lancaster, you’ll be perfectly positioned between Morecambe Bay, the Lake District, and the Yorkshire Dales for work-life enjoyment.

The team has diverse clinical interests—including acupuncture, ECC nursing, canine massage therapy, and rehabilitation—and actively encourages knowledge-sharing and professional development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting RVN consults and clinics independently
  • Theatre duties including anaesthesia monitoring
  • Preparation and ward care duties
  • Laboratory work and diagnostic support
  • Contributing to a supportive nursing team across a purpose-built, state-of-the-art facility

Requirements

  • RCVS registered as a Veterinary Nurse
  • Proven experience conducting nurse consults/clinics
  • Comfortable with anaesthesia monitoring and theatre work
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to embrace varied daily tasks
  • Team player mentality with genuine interest in clinical development

About the Practice

Lancaster Vets has been a trusted part of the Lancaster community since 1999, operating from a purpose-built, state-of-the-art facility. The practice is RCVS accredited to GP status and is working towards customer care awards. It holds Silver Cat Friendly status, Silver Rabbit Friendly status, and is near achievement of Dog Friendly status. The team is designated a training practice for RVN students and veterinary students (in association with UCLAN) and holds an IiE award at Bronze level, with Silver-level progression underway.
