Veterinary Receptionist

About the Role

This is a maternity cover position running for 9 months, offering a wonderful opportunity to join an established and genuinely friendly practice. You’ll work 4 days per week (8.75 hours per day with a 1-hour lunch break), giving you a manageable schedule that respects your work-life balance. Based at the Whitchurch location, you’ll be working in a newly refurbished, well-equipped building with on-site parking and excellent transport links—just a short walk from the train station and local village.

Leonard Brothers operates across 3 branches as a small animal practice, and the Whitchurch team is a vibrant mix of 6 Veterinary Surgeons, 8 Registered Veterinary Nurses, 2 Student Nurses, and 5 experienced receptionists and administrators. The practice is known for its collaborative, fun atmosphere where personality and care go hand in hand. Team members include certificate holders in surgery, medicine, cardiology, and Emergency Care, creating a genuinely supportive environment where you’ll feel welcomed and valued.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage general reception duties including welcoming clients and creating a friendly first impression
• Handle phone enquiries and appointment scheduling
• Provide administrative support including filing and data management
• Support the practice’s vaccination and preventative care initiatives
• Work collaboratively with the wider team to maintain smooth practice operations

Requirements

• Friendly, approachable manner with strong communication skills
• Experience in reception or customer-facing roles (all experience levels welcome)
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively in a team environment
• Flexibility and reliability
