Fair rotation of bank holidays and weekend rota. Practice has dedicated night team supporting out-of-hours work for own patients and other local practices.

About the Role

This is a full-time permanent position working a standard 40-hour week with fair rotation of bank holidays and weekend duties. You’ll join Calder Vets’ central hospital in Dewsbury as a multidisciplinary RVN, rotating through surgery, theatre, in-patient care, medicine and nursing clinics. The practice has its own dedicated night team supporting out-of-hours work, offering exposure to a diverse range of patients from their own clients and neighbouring practices.

You’ll be fully utilized as an RVN and encouraged to develop expertise in the areas that interest you most, whether that’s theatre work, in-patient nursing, or running clinics. The team values both independent working and collaborative problem-solving, and you’ll play a key role in ensuring the efficient flow of patients through each discipline whilst maintaining exceptional care standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Rotate through surgical, anaesthetic, medical nursing and nurse clinic settings, delivering high-quality patient care across all disciplines
  • Assist with theatre procedures and manage anaesthesia support
  • Provide in-patient care and monitoring on the hospital wards
  • Assist with medicine procedures and investigations
  • Run and support nurse-led clinics
  • Facilitate efficient patient flow through the practice whilst maintaining clinical excellence
  • Support the dedicated night team with out-of-hours nursing duties as part of the rota

Requirements

  • Registered Veterinary Nurse (RCVS registered)
  • Proven experience in anaesthesia and theatre practice
  • Experience with in-patient care and ward management
  • Experience assisting with medicine procedures
  • Experience or confidence running nurse clinics
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proactive approach with a genuine passion for learning and professional development
  • Comfortable working in a busy practice with diverse caseloads
