About the Role

This is a structured, full-time rotating internship designed to accelerate your clinical development across multiple specialist disciplines. You’ll work within the UK’s largest network of referral hospitals, gaining hands-on experience in internal medicine, surgery, anaesthesia, diagnostic imaging, oncology, emergency and critical care, neurology, cardiology, ophthalmology, and dentistry. As part of a vibrant community of over 100 rotating interns and 100+ residents, you’ll benefit from a clear pathway toward specialist credentials, advanced general practice, or academic positions—with an impressive track record showing 70% of graduates who wanted to specialise progressing to Discipline-Specific Internships or Residencies within two years.

Based in Livingston, you’ll be embedded in a collaborative, supportive environment where your development is genuinely prioritised. This is a fixed-term position starting at your earliest convenience, with flexibility around start dates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Rotate through multiple specialist departments, gaining direct hands-on involvement in diagnostics, surgery, and patient care from day one
  • Work alongside world-renowned Specialists, contributing to clinical cases under supervision and mentorship
  • Participate in small-group seminars, weekly clinical teaching, monthly film reading sessions, and clinical reasoning rounds
  • Conduct clinical research with full support, with opportunities to present at international conferences and publish in peer-reviewed journals
  • Engage in ongoing professional skills and wellbeing workshops
  • Complete a year-long research training course as part of your structured development

Requirements

  • Registered with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS)
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in small animal practice
  • Have completed their RCVS Veterinary Graduate Development Programme (VetGDP) – We will not be able to accept your application if you have not completed your RCVS VetGDP or are not close to completion.
  • Available to start at the earliest opportunity
  • Visa sponsorship considered for eligible candidates
