About the Role

London Vet Specialists is seeking an enthusiastic Registered Veterinary Nurse with a passion for oncology to join their specialist team in their brand-new Hammersmith facility. This full-time position offers the opportunity to work primarily within the oncology department, delivering high-quality patient care and chemotherapy administration in a modern, purpose-built hospital setting.

You’ll be part of a specialist-led service within a thriving 20+ clinician referral hospital that relocated to a state-of-the-art site in May 2024. The oncology team is led by Specialist Oncologist Sofia and Lead Oncology RVN Inge, both committed to a collaborative, patient-focused approach that prioritises comfort and quality of life for patients and their caregivers. While your work will be prioritised within oncology, you may be called upon to support other departments as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality patient care primarily within the oncology service, including client consultations and chemotherapy administration
  • Prioritise inpatient oncology care and implement nursing care plans for patients undergoing investigations and hospitalisation
  • Manage the ordering, safe handling, and appropriate storage of cytotoxic medications in collaboration with pharmacy
  • Monitor sedation and anaesthesia, maintaining accurate anaesthetic and hospitalisation records
  • Conduct nurse consultations and provide client updates under clinician direction
  • Maintain exceptional hygiene standards and implement infection control measures across your department
  • Work with the Lead RVNs and Head of Nursing Services to plan daily caseloads and escalate concerns promptly
  • Participate in team briefings to ensure effective communication and reflective practice
  • Support International Society of Feline Medicine (ISFM) and Dogs Trust/BVBA standards across the hospital
  • Maintain general nursing competence through role swaps and continued professional development

Requirements

  • Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) qualification
  • Experience in specialist oncology or a high-oncology caseload setting, OR a strong demonstrated interest in developing oncology expertise
  • Experience with chemotherapy administration and nurse consultations (desirable)
  • Excellent work ethic and capability across all nursing duties
  • Strong attention to detail with accurate record-keeping skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a specialist team
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care and infection control
