About the Role

Lordswood Vets is seeking a committed Registered Veterinary Nurse to join their thriving small animal team in Harborne, West Midlands. This is a part-time position offering 30 hours per week with excellent flexibility—shifts run weekday mornings and afternoons (07:00–19:30) plus a manageable 1:3 Saturday rota (08:00–12:30). Based primarily at the Harborne branch, you’ll occasionally support the practice’s other local sites.

Located on the outskirts of Birmingham with excellent transport links to the city, Harborne offers the best of both worlds: urban accessibility and proximity to beautiful rural spots like Kinver, Clent Hills, and the Lickey Hills. You’ll work alongside 24 veterinary surgeons, 25 registered veterinary nurses, 7 student nurses, and dedicated support staff—a genuinely collaborative environment where your nursing skills are valued.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care across all aspects of small animal practice, including patient assessment, anaesthesia support, surgical assistance, and post-operative care
  • Operate advanced diagnostic and therapeutic equipment including ultrasound, CT, K-laser, endoscopy, laparoscopy, and dental X-ray
  • Support the practice’s caseload, which includes routine cases and charity work, benefiting from the expertise of certificate holders in surgery, medicine, cardiology, exotic species, ophthalmology, and ECC
  • Maintain infection prevention and control standards as part of the practice’s established programme
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and participate in ongoing professional development

Requirements

  • Current RCVS registration as a Registered Veterinary Nurse
  • Strong nursing fundamentals and ability to work confidently within a large, multi-disciplinary team
  • Commitment to high standards of animal care and client communication

Benefits

  • Leave & Time Off: 6.6 weeks annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays) plus additional holiday for your birthday
  • Wellbeing: Private medical insurance, 24/7 employee assistance programme, enhanced family-friendly policies (maternity, paternity, adoption, shared parental and surrogacy pay)
  • Professional Development: £550 CPD allowance with 24 hours paid CPD leave (pro rata), certificate support, access to the IVC Evidensia Academy, Vetlexicon online resource, and research funding opportunities
  • Professional Memberships: VDS cover and RCVS fees covered
  • Pension & Perks: Company pension scheme with employer contribution, cycle-to-work and green cars schemes, voluntary benefits, retail discounts and cashback, discounted pet treatment at IVC Evidensia practices
