About the Role

This is a competitive three-year Fixed Term Contract ECVN-standard residency in neurology and neurosurgery at Lumbry Park Veterinary Specialists, a large multidisciplinary referral hospital serving the South of England including London, the South Coast and the Thames Valley. You’ll work within a specialist-led team and receive supervision from five board-certified neurologists, supported by a second resident, a neurology intern, and three dedicated neurology nurses.

Full-time position with a 1:3 weekend on-call rota. You’ll have access to exceptional diagnostic and surgical equipment including a Siemens 1.5T MRI, 16-slice CT, Natus electrodiagnostic unit, surgical microscope, surgical exoscope and spinal endoscope.

Lumbry Park is an ISFM Gold Cat Friendly Clinic and BVHA Design Award winner, part of the CVS national referral network. The hospital houses board-certified specialists across neurology, neurosurgery, surgery, internal medicine, ECC, dermatology, diagnostic imaging, oncology and cardiology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct neurological evaluations, diagnostic imaging interpretation, and surgical intervention under supervision of five board-certified specialists
  • Develop clinical expertise in neurology and neurosurgery through hands-on case management
  • Participate in clinical research projects as part of residency requirements
  • Contribute to a collaborative multidisciplinary referral service environment
  • Maintain detailed case records and contribute to teaching of junior staff and interns

Requirements

  • MRCVS-eligible or MRCVS qualification
  • Minimum 24 months of UK small animal practice experience
  • Completion of a rotating internship or equivalent first opinion practice experience
  • Strong communication, teamwork and resilience skills
  • Commitment to exceptional patient care
  • Interest in clinical research (desirable)
