About the Role

This is a fixed-term maternity cover position offering the flexibility to suit your lifestyle—choose between full-time (41.25 hours) or part-time (26 hours) hours, and enjoy the significant perk of zero out-of-hours or bank holiday cover. You’ll be based at the Wimborne branch, nestled in one of Dorset’s most stunning areas along the Jurassic Coast, just 8 miles from Bournemouth and Poole with easy access to the countryside and coastline.

You’ll work with a varied caseload spanning both rural and urban clients, giving you rich opportunities to develop your skills across diverse cases. The branch is part of a progressive 5-branch small-animal group with modern facilities, an experienced clinical team, and a genuine commitment to nursing excellence. You’ll be supported by a culture where every team member’s voice matters and where professional development is actively encouraged.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care across a mixed caseload of surgical and consultative cases
• Contribute to the smooth running of the Wimborne branch alongside the head nurse and clinical team
• Support student veterinary nurses (SVNs) as part of our accredited training practice
• Maintain RCVS standards and uphold the practice’s commitment to animal welfare and professional excellence
• Engage in patient care with confidence and compassion, whether in ops or consults

Requirements

• Current RCVS registration as a Veterinary Nurse
• Genuine passion for nursing and patient care
• Confidence and competence in both surgical and consultative environments
• Reliable, enthusiastic, and genuinely committed to team collaboration
• Professional approach with strong communication skills
