About the Role

This is your opportunity to begin your veterinary career in a supportive, multi-site small animal practice where learning and mentorship are built into the culture. Based primarily at Manor Vets’ main Halesowen hospital with rotations across their six-branch network, you’ll work a 40-hour week over four 10-hour days, plus a Saturday morning rota (4 in 12, paid or TOIL). There’s no out-of-hours overnight work, allowing you to maintain genuine work-life balance while building clinical confidence.

Halesowen offers excellent location advantages—just 6 miles from Birmingham city centre, close to beautiful countryside including the Clent Hills and Kinver, and only 40 minutes from Birmingham International Airport. You’ll be joining what the team affectionately calls “the Manor Family,” a collaborative environment where clinical directors and management keep an open door for any concerns or questions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide small animal veterinary care across the main hospital and branch locations
  • Work within a structured mentorship programme under a qualified GDP Adviser
  • Develop clinical skills across a wide variety of cases, supported by the 26-vet team
  • Contribute to the practice’s commitment to high-quality, varied caseload medicine
  • Participate in lunch-and-learn sessions and the clinical club to build knowledge in areas of uncertainty
  • Engage with certificate-holding specialists in Surgery, Ophthalmology, Imaging, Medicine, and Exotics

Requirements

  • Recently qualified or newly qualified veterinary surgeon (Graduate Academy candidate)
  • Full RCVS registration (or eligible to register)
  • Passion for small animal practice and continuous learning
  • Ability to work flexibly across multiple practice locations
  • Commitment to professional development and CPD

About the Practice

Manor Vets is a well-established six-branch small animal practice based in Halesowen, West Midlands. The team comprises 26 veterinary surgeons and 36 nurses with diverse clinical interests and specialisms, creating a genuinely collaborative learning environment. The main hospital is fully equipped with 5 consultation rooms, 2 theatres, dedicated anaesthetic preparation room, digital X-ray suite, CT scanner, recovery ward, separate dog/cat/exotic wards, dental suite, and isolation facilities. Advanced equipment includes ultrasound, K-laser therapy, laparoscopic spay capability, endoscopy, and access to MRI services. The practice actively encourages CPD through structured learning, lunch-and-learn sessions, and a clinical club where team members lead discussions on challenging topics.
