🕐 Schedule & Rota

Vets Now provides onsite out-of-hours and bank holiday cover; no out-of-hours or bank holiday shifts required. Rota includes infrequent weekends (1 in 8 Saturday 8-4 and Sunday 10-2) and Saturday (1 in 8, 8-4) shifts, with generous time off in lieu the following week.

About the Role

This is a full-time opportunity to join Maven Veterinary Care, a multiple award-winning small animal practice in North Cheam with a stellar reputation for clinical excellence and team culture. You’ll work across a range of early and late shifts (7:30am–3:30pm, 8am–4pm, and 10am–8pm), with infrequent weekend commitments (1 in 8 Saturdays and Sundays). The real difference here: no out-of-hours or bank holiday shifts. Vets Now manage emergency care onsite, so interesting inpatient cases stay in-house for continuity of care.

Located just south of London with easy transport links, you’ll have quick access to the capital’s culture, plus the Surrey countryside, sports venues (Wimbledon, Epsom, Twickenham), and excellent family amenities nearby. Consulting appointments are 15 minutes with built-in admin and break time, so the rota actually works for you.

The practice holds 5 RCVS ‘Outstanding’ awards, Gold Cat Friendly Clinic status, and boasts multiple certificate holders in medicine, surgery, and ophthalmology. Daily case discussions and rounds mean you’ll be learning alongside specialists and a highly skilled nursing team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver consultations, diagnostics, and surgical care across a busy small animal caseload
  • Perform medical, imaging, and surgical procedures using recently refurbished facilities (dedicated ultrasound, X-ray, and dentistry suites; 2 large operating theatres)
  • Participate in daily rounds and case discussions with certificate holders and specialists
  • Work collaboratively with a team of qualified nurses, care assistants, and client care staff
  • Maintain high standards of patient and client care with a warm, compassionate approach
  • Support the practice’s commitment to clinical excellence and environmental sustainability (Bronze Investors in the Environment 2024)

Requirements

  • Registered as a veterinary surgeon with the RCVS
  • Minimum 1 year post-qualification experience in small animal practice
  • Competence in medical, imaging, and surgical procedures
  • Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment
  • Warm, compassionate, self-motivated approach with a positive attitude toward patients, clients, and colleagues
  • Experience-level: Experienced vets welcome; applications encouraged from those with additional certificates or specialist interests
