About the Role

You’ll be joining MBM Vets’ dedicated small animal nursing team on a 12-month maternity cover contract, working across three practices in Kilmarnock, Beith, and Mauchline. This is a full-time role with genuine flexibility—work 40 hours across four or five days to suit your preferences, with a straightforward 1-in-4 Saturday morning rota (8:30am–1:00pm) and no out-of-hours or on-call duties. The Ayrshire location offers an excellent quality of life, close to the coast with convenient transport links to Glasgow.

You’ll be part of an experienced team delivering high-standard patient care and surgical services across three sites, with strong links to referral centres for complex cases. The practice welcomes flexible working arrangements, including part-time hours or alternative patterns if that suits your circumstances better.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing support across three small animal practices in a multi-site role
  • Assist with medical and surgical procedures, working alongside 20 veterinary surgeons including specialists in Cardiology and Surgery
  • Contribute to the delivery of high-standard patient care and clinical protocols
  • Participate in the 1-in-4 Saturday morning rota (8:30am–1:00pm)
  • Support nursing team of 16 RVNs, 4 Animal Nursing Assistants, and reception staff

Requirements

  • RCVS registration as a Registered Veterinary Nurse
  • Experience in small animal practice (essential)
  • Willingness to work across multiple sites
  • Flexibility to participate in Saturday morning rota
