Veterinary Surgeon

About the Role

You’ll be joining a welcoming community practice in the heart of the Cynon Valley, where clinical excellence and genuine team support go hand-in-hand. This part-time position offers three days a week at Aberdare (9am–6pm) plus one Saturday in four at the nearby Merthyr Tydfil branch—real work-life balance with variety built in. You’ll work alongside an experienced Branch Partner and a collaborative team of vets and nurses who take pride in delivering high-quality care and actively undertake Schedule 3 procedures.

Aberdare itself is a hub of community spirit with scenic walking routes, local amenities, and easy access to the broader South Wales area. The client base is loyal and welcoming, making it a genuinely pleasant place to practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional clinical care during consultations and surgical procedures, meeting the highest standards of regulatory, practice, and operational compliance
• Develop individualised treatment plans with clients, balancing medicine and surgery as appropriate
• Work collaboratively within the supportive vet and nursing team
• Contribute to the professional development of the wider Medivet communities
• Support Schedule 3 procedure delivery alongside the nursing team

Requirements

• Qualified MRCVS (Veterinary Surgeon registration)
• Demonstrated passion for clinical excellence and client care
• Experience balancing both surgical and medical cases
• Strong collaborative approach to practice teamwork
• Commitment to maintaining high standards of animal welfare and professional practice
