🕐 Schedule & Rota

Dedicated night veterinary role. Working pattern: 7 nights on, 21 nights off (pro-rated salary reflects this pattern).

About the Role

This is a dedicated night veterinary surgery position at Medivet Ashton 24 Hour, a thriving 5–6-vet practice with real growth plans on the horizon. You’ll be the clinical lead during your night shifts, supported by an experienced Night RVN and a Twilight PCA during the busier early hours—so you’re never flying solo when things get hectic.

The role runs on a 7 nights on, 21 nights off pattern, giving you genuinely protected time away from the practice. Previous out-of-hours experience is desirable, and the team places real value on clear handover communication to ensure continuity of care for patients moving into day shifts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional clinical care during consultations and emergency procedures throughout your night shift
  • Provide clear, compassionate communication with clients about their pet’s condition and treatment plans
  • Maintain the highest standards of clinical, regulatory and operational compliance
  • Develop accurate treatment and care plans with transparent cost estimates for each patient
  • Lead and support your Night RVN and Twilight PCA, getting the best from your team during busy periods
  • Complete thorough clinical handovers and arrange appropriate transfers for patients requiring ongoing or specialist care
  • Share clinical best practice across the Medivet community and contribute to a progressive clinical culture
  • Support nurse-led consultations and Schedule 3 procedures, understanding their role in practice efficiency

Requirements

  • RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon
  • Proven experience delivering exceptional care to both patients and clients
  • Strong track record of working effectively as a team member
  • Demonstrated clinical leadership skills
  • Experience in out-of-hours veterinary practice (desirable)
  • Ability to implement and support progressive clinical practices
  • Strong coaching and influencing skills to support colleague development

Benefits

  • Comprehensive Health & Wellbeing: Private Medical Insurance, Health Cash Plan (dental, physio, optical) with 24/7 GP service, and access to 24-hour counselling support
  • Financial Security: Life Assurance at 3× salary, interest-free Season Ticket Loan, and Cycle to Work scheme
  • Professional Development: £1,500 annual clinical CPD allowance, funded certificate opportunities, and access to internal CPD and Clinical Communities
  • Work-Life Balance: An additional paid ‘Day for You’ to use as you wish, plus sabbatical entitlement based on length of service
  • Professional Fees: VDS, RCVS and BVA membership fees paid
  • Medivet Perks: Discounts on Medivet products and services
  • International Support: Tier 2 visa sponsorship and relocation support available
