Veterinary Nursing Assistant

About the Role

As a Veterinary Care Assistant at the Carpenders Park practice in Watford, you’ll be at the heart of daily patient care, supporting the nursing and veterinary team with in-patient procedures and pet welfare. Your days will be filled with hands-on work—from assisting during surgeries to ensuring every patient receives compassionate attention before, during, and after treatment.

You’ll work as part of a collaborative team where your contributions directly impact the care quality delivered to pets and the experience of their owners. This is a full-time permanent role with a supportive practice culture that values teamwork and professional development.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional care to in-patients, including walking, toileting, feeding, and monitoring
• Support nurses and vets during surgical and procedural work, maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety
• Comply with all regulatory, practice, and operational standards in everything you do
• Work collaboratively within a supportive veterinary team
• Prioritise animal welfare and client communication at all times

Requirements

• You must be 18 years or older (role involves working with hazardous substances as per HSE guidance)
• Genuine passion for animal care and client service
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to changing priorities
• Team player with a willingness to learn and develop
• Flexible approach to work within practice needs
