Veterinary Receptionist

About the Role

You’ll be the first point of contact for clients at the Pembroke practice, managing a busy reception desk with warmth and efficiency. This is a part-time role working 26.7 hours per week across a fixed schedule: Wednesday 8:30–18:30, Thursday and Friday 8:30–17:00, plus one Saturday per month 8:30–13:00 (1:4 rota). You’ll have a 30-minute lunch break built into each shift.

The role sits within a supportive team across Medivet’s extensive network of 400+ practices. You’ll be handling everything from greeting clients to managing the appointment diary, all while working in an environment that actively invests in your wellbeing and career development.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet clients on arrival, manage check-in, and keep records up to date
• Answer client phone calls and manage messages promptly and professionally
• Triage emergency appointments—assess impact and reschedule clients where appropriate
• Manage the practice diary to optimise appointment availability based on team skillset
• Maintain online appointment booking system to ensure slots remain available for clients
• Process repeat prescription requests from clients
• Work collaboratively within a supportive practice team

Requirements

• Excellent client-facing and reception skills
• Good numeracy and ability to manage online appointment booking systems
• Strong prioritisation skills and ability to stay calm under pressure
• Flexibility and genuine willingness to learn
• Team player mentality
• Previous veterinary reception experience desirable (but not essential)
