Veterinary Care Assistant

About the Role

This is a part-time maternity cover position based at the Medivet practice in Pontefract, Wakefield. You’ll be stepping into a role that sits at the heart of patient care, supporting the clinical team with surgeries and procedures whilst ensuring every animal in the practice receives compassionate attention throughout their day.

You’ll work as part of a collaborative team that prioritises both animal welfare and a supportive working environment. The practice values team members who remain calm under pressure, take initiative, and are genuinely passionate about pets and client care.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional client care and support during surgeries and clinical procedures
• Monitor and care for patients, including walking, toileting, and feeding
• Maintain compliance with all regulatory, practice, and operational standards
• Work collaboratively within the team to deliver high standards of patient care

Requirements

• Passion for animal care and commitment to exceptional client service
• Ability to remain calm and prioritise effectively under pressure
• Flexibility and willingness to learn and develop
• Must be over 18 years of age (due to Health and Safety Executive guidance on role duties)
• Team player mentality with a genuine desire to make a difference
