Veterinary Care Assistant

About the Role

You’ll be at the heart of patient care, supporting the nursing and veterinary team across a range of in-patient procedures and daily pet care. This is a full-time position based in Poole, offering the chance to work in a practice where your contribution directly impacts animal welfare and client satisfaction.

The role combines hands-on animal care with collaborative teamwork. You’ll gain exposure to surgical support, patient monitoring, and the operational side of a busy practice—all while working alongside a team that genuinely supports professional development and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate care to in-patients, including walking, feeding, toileting, and monitoring
• Support the nursing and veterinary team during surgeries and clinical procedures
• Deliver exceptional service to clients while maintaining high standards of animal welfare
• Work collaboratively within the practice team, prioritising calmness under pressure
• Comply with all relevant health, safety, regulatory, and practice standards

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or over (due to health and safety duties)
• Genuine passion for animal care and client service
• Ability to remain calm and prioritise effectively in a busy environment
• Flexible, willing to learn, and committed to working as part of a team
• No prior experience required—enthusiasm and reliability are key
