Veterinary Care Assistant

About the Role

You’ll join Medivet’s Chorley hospital as a Twilight Veterinary Care Assistant, working a flexible 7 evenings on, 7 evenings off pattern from 6pm to midnight. This part-time role puts you at the heart of in-patient care, supporting the night nurse and vet to ensure every patient receives exceptional attention during their hospital stay.

You’ll be part of a supportive team that values your contribution, combining hands-on pet care with client-focused service in a small animal, mixed animal, and exotic practice environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional client care, assisting with surgeries and procedures while maintaining regulatory and practice standards
• Provide direct patient monitoring and care, including walking, toileting, and feeding hospitalised pets
• Work collaboratively with the night nursing and veterinary team to support in-patient procedures
• Maintain calm, professional standards under pressure in a hospital setting

Requirements

• Genuine passion for animal care and exceptional client service
• Ability to prioritise, stay calm under pressure, and work flexibly
• Team player with a willingness to learn and develop
• Must be over 18 years old (role involves duties unsuitable for young workers per HSE guidance)
