Veterinary Care Assistant

About the Role

This is a part-time position working 20 hours across just 2 days at a consult-only clinic. You’ll be the backbone of the branch, supporting the vet with daily operations and ensuring every client and patient feels genuinely cared for. It’s a role where your compassion for animals and commitment to excellent service will make a real difference in a practice that values its team.

Some weekend working and bank holidays may be required, and you may occasionally be asked to support the sister branch at Redbourn Priory.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional care to clients during consultations and procedures, maintaining all regulatory and operational standards
• Deliver hands-on patient care including walking, toileting, and feeding animals
• Support the vet with clinical and administrative tasks throughout the day
• Work collaboratively within the practice team, showing flexibility and willingness to learn
• Maintain calm and professional demeanor under pressure

Requirements

• Passion for animal care and client service
• Ability to prioritise tasks and remain calm under pressure
• Team player with a flexible, learning-focused mindset
• Must be over 18 years old (due to Health and Safety Executive guidance regarding role duties)
• No specific qualifications required, but relevant experience in a veterinary or animal care setting is beneficial
