About the Role

This is a full-time Registered Veterinary Nurse position based at a charming, thatched-cottage practice nestled in the heart of the New Forest. You’ll enjoy genuine flexibility—choose between a compressed 4-day week or standard 5-day working pattern to suit your lifestyle. The role includes a manageable 1-in-5 Saturday rota (8:30am–12:30pm only), with occasional support needed at the sister branch in Totton.

You’ll work across a range of clinical nursing duties that keep every day interesting: running nurse clinics, delivering exceptional inpatient care, assisting with laboratory and diagnostic imaging work, monitoring anaesthesia during surgery, placing IV catheters, and triaging emergency cases. This is hands-on, varied nursing in a practice that’s been part of the community for over 35 years.

  • Run nurse-led clinics and provide direct patient care
  • Support inpatient management and nursing care
  • Assist with laboratory work and diagnostic imaging procedures
  • Monitor anaesthesia during surgical procedures
  • Place intravenous catheters and manage emergency triage
  • Contribute to the smooth daily running of the practice across two sites
  • Work collaboratively with a team of 4 full-time vets, 2 regular locums, 6 registered veterinary nurses, 1 student nurse, and 5 receptionists

Requirements

  • Current RCVS registration as a Registered Veterinary Nurse
  • Confidence working both independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Strong relationship-building skills with clients and colleagues
  • Proactive and compassionate approach to patient care
  • Flexibility to support across two practice locations

Benefits

  • Leave & Time Off: 6.6 weeks annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays, pro rata), increasing with length of service, plus your birthday as a paid day off
  • Wellbeing Support: Enhanced family-friendly policies (maternity, paternity, adoption, shared parental, and surrogacy pay), Private Medical Insurance, Cycle to Work scheme, discounted gym membership, and non-accidental injury support
  • Professional Development: £550 CPD allowance with 24 hours paid study leave (pro rata), certificate support, access to the IVC Evidensia Academy learning platform, Vetlexicon online encyclopaedia, research funding opportunities, Infection Prevention & Control Programme, and Quality Improvement Programme
