About the Role

You’ll be joining a thriving five-branch small animal practice on the Isle of Man as a Veterinary Surgeon, working within a well-equipped, collaborative environment where clinical quality and team support genuinely matter. This is a varied role combining consulting, surgery, and emergency and critical care, primarily based at the main branch in Douglas. With a manageable 1:4 Saturday morning rota and approximately 1:10 nights and weekend on-call, the practice offers genuine flexibility on working patterns – full-time positions are 38 hours over 4-5 days, and part-time applications are considered (though weekend and on-call availability is essential).

The team includes 17 Veterinary Surgeons, 14 Registered Veterinary Nurses, and 20 support staff – a genuinely collaborative, learning-focused environment. You’ll work alongside certificate holders in GP Cert SA Medicine and Cert AVP Sheep, a visiting cardiology specialist, and colleagues pursuing certifications in ophthalmology, exotics, and postgraduate studies. The practice is also connected with Curraghs Wildlife Park, offering unique clinical opportunities beyond standard small animal work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality small animal clinical care across consulting, surgical, and emergency/critical care cases
  • Contribute to the practice’s consulting and surgical workload, primarily at the Douglas branch
  • Participate in the on-call rota (1:4 Saturday mornings and approximately 1:10 nights/weekends) and support colleagues during emergency care
  • Work collaboratively with an experienced nursing team who run their own clinics including health checks, vaccinations, post-operative care, and wellness appointments
  • Engage with ongoing clinical development through mentorship from certificate holders and specialists within the team
  • Support the practice’s commitment to evidence-based care, infection prevention, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Participate in opportunities to work with exotic species through the practice’s partnership with Curraghs Wildlife Park

Requirements

  • Full UK veterinary qualification and RCVS registration
  • Experience in small animal practice (level of experience not specified – all qualified vets considered)
  • Weekend and on-call availability essential, even for part-time roles

Milan Veterinary Clinic is a five-branch small animal practice established on the Isle of Man, part of the IVC Evidensia group.
