You’ll be joining a thriving five-branch small animal practice on the Isle of Man as a Veterinary Surgeon, working within a well-equipped, collaborative environment where clinical quality and team support genuinely matter. This is a varied role combining consulting, surgery, and emergency and critical care, primarily based at the main branch in Douglas. With a manageable 1:4 Saturday morning rota and approximately 1:10 nights and weekend on-call, the practice offers genuine flexibility on working patterns – full-time positions are 38 hours over 4-5 days, and part-time applications are considered (though weekend and on-call availability is essential).
Beyond the clinical work, you’ll be part of something special: living and working on the Isle of Man means being surrounded by UNESCO Biosphere coastlines, rolling countryside, and a close-knit community with genuine lifestyle appeal. The island offers exceptional financial benefits including 0% Capital Gains Tax, 0% Inheritance Tax, and 0% Stamp Duty, plus a National Insurance Holiday Scheme for new residents. From the TT Races and Celtic heritage to sailing, kayaking, and hill walking, the quality of life here is genuinely different.
The team includes 17 Veterinary Surgeons, 14 Registered Veterinary Nurses, and 20 support staff – a genuinely collaborative, learning-focused environment. You’ll work alongside certificate holders in GP Cert SA Medicine and Cert AVP Sheep, a visiting cardiology specialist, and colleagues pursuing certifications in ophthalmology, exotics, and postgraduate studies. The practice is also connected with Curraghs Wildlife Park, offering unique clinical opportunities beyond standard small animal work.
