About the Role

You’ll be joining Milton Keynes Vets for Pets at an exciting moment in their history. The practice has just completed a transformative state-of-the-art expansion, creating a modern, spacious working environment that’s genuinely pleasant to be in. Whether you’re newly qualified or highly experienced, you’ll find a supportive team of over 40 colleagues who actively mentor and develop their nurses—and they’re flexible about how and when you work, offering full-time, part-time, or bespoke hours to fit your lifestyle.

The practice is conveniently located in a modern retail park in central Milton Keynes with free onsite parking, nearby train links, and even a cycle-to-work scheme. This is a well-established practice celebrating 25 years, with a progressive culture and genuine commitment to your development—they’ve even been awarded the Green Investors in the Environment award, showing their values extend beyond the clinic.

Small animal nursing sits at the heart of what you’ll do, but the newly expanded facilities mean genuine opportunities to specialise if that appeals to you. You’ll actively be encouraged to take on Schedule 3 responsibilities including dental work, X-rays, and lab work, with a generous CPD allowance to support whatever direction interests you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-standard small animal nursing care across a modern, well-equipped practice
  • Support the clinical team across two theatres, six consult rooms, and dedicated dog and cat wards with heated kennels

  • Utilise advanced equipment including K-laser, HT Vista, dental X-ray, flexible and rigid endoscopy, laparoscopy, ultrasound (Logic R8), and other diagnostic tools
  • Work collaboratively with a team of 40+ colleagues in a teaching-focused environment
  • Contribute to regular practice and clinical meetings, with opportunities to explore specialist areas that interest you

Requirements

  • Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) qualification
  • A genuine commitment to high standards of patient care and welfare
  • Enthusiasm for learning and professional development
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a busy small animal practice
  • No specific experience level required—newly qualified or experienced RVNs equally welcome

Benefits

  • Competitive salary: £28,000–£33,000 FTE and DOE
  • Team profit sharing and quarterly performance bonuses
  • Generous CPD allowance: £500 per year, including three full days for training
  • Paid professional memberships (RCVS, BVNA, VDS)
  • Contributory pension scheme
  • Extra day off to celebrate your birthday
  • Flexible working hours: full-time, part-time, or tailored schedules to suit your needs
  • 40% staff discount on in-practice products, plus discounts with Pets at Home and The Groom Room
  • Cycle-to-work scheme
  • Regular team social events and recognition of individual and team achievements
  • Supportive, nurturing working environment
