About the Role

MiNightVet Caterham is a dedicated out-of-hours emergency service based within The Village Animal Hospital in Surrey. You’ll be part of a focused team providing first-class emergency and critical care throughout the night and weekends, treating every patient with the same urgency and care you’d give your own pets. The role operates on a 7 nights on, 14 nights off rota (19:00 to 08:00), designed to give you genuine time to rest and recharge between shifts.

The location in Caterham is highly commutable from across South London, Surrey, and Kent, with easy access from Croydon, Sutton, Epsom, Bromley, Redhill, and surrounding areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide emergency and critical care to small animal patients presenting overnight and at weekends
  • Manage first-opinion emergency cases with clinical independence and decision-making authority
  • Work as part of the MiNightVet team to ensure high standards of patient care and welfare
  • Contribute to hospitalisation and in-patient care for surrounding first-opinion practices
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and communicate effectively with day-time veterinary teams

Requirements

  • Registered as a veterinary surgeon with the RCVS
  • Experience in emergency and critical care, or strong clinical foundation with willingness to develop in this area
  • Comfortable working independently as the responsible vet on shift
  • Commitment to continuous professional development
  • Strong communication and team-working skills
