Night Patient Care Assistant

About the Role

This is a permanent part-time position working night shifts as part of a sole night Patient Care Assistant role at My Pets Vets in Leigh. You’ll be working 24 hours per week across Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 7pm to 7am, supporting a friendly and experienced night team dedicated to quality patient care.

Your work will span both theatre support and inpatient care, requiring you to be competent handling a variety of animal species. You’ll gain practical experience across multiple areas of veterinary nursing support whilst contributing to a clean, well-maintained hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in theatre operations, including cleaning and preparing surgical spaces for procedures
• Clean and sterilise surgical instruments to maintain clinical standards
• Stock consumables and assist theatre staff with preparation areas
• Provide inpatient care alongside the nursing team, ensuring animal welfare and comfort
• Maintain hospital cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout the shift
• Handle a variety of species competently and safely

Requirements

• Experience as a Patient Care Assistant is preferred for this sole night PCA role
• Ability to handle a variety of animal species competently
• Reliable and committed to night shift work (Wednesday & Thursday 7pm–7am)
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining hospital cleanliness
