About the Role

This is a fixed-term contract (12 months), full-time position based at My Pets Vets in Leigh, offering a great opportunity to develop your reception skills in a supportive, forward-thinking environment. You’ll work a shift-based pattern covering 7am–9pm hours across the week, including 1 in 4 weekends and bank holidays, giving you genuine variety in your working week.

You’ll be the first point of contact for clients and their pets, creating that all-important warm welcome that sets the tone for their visit. Working alongside a dedicated reception team, you’ll manage the day-to-day flow of appointments, queries, and payments with a real sense of purpose—knowing that you’re helping pets get the care they need and keeping owners informed every step of the way.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greeting clients and their pets in a professional, welcoming manner
  • Managing appointment scheduling and booking surgical procedures into the diary
  • Answering client queries by telephone and email with accuracy and empathy
  • Communicating proactively between clients and clinical colleagues to ensure smooth daily operations
  • Processing prescription requests and handling payments
  • Completing administrative tasks including scanning paperwork and form completion
  • Promoting practice services and special offers to clients
  • Maintaining reception cleanliness and ensuring supplies are well-stocked

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a customer-facing role
  • Previous reception experience (highly desirable)
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work flexibly across shift patterns (7am-9pm), including 1 in 4 weekends and bank holiday participation
