About the Role

You’ll be stepping into a maternity cover position at a well-established small animal practice, providing continuity of care during a colleague’s absence. Based in a vibrant practice setting, you’ll have the chance to build relationships with both clients and colleagues whilst managing a varied caseload of small animal patients. The role offers flexibility in how you work—whether you’re looking for full-time or part-time hours, the practice is open to discussing what suits you best.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide primary and preventative veterinary care to small animal patients
  • Conduct clinical examinations, diagnose conditions, and prescribe appropriate treatments
  • Perform surgical procedures within your scope of practice
  • Maintain detailed clinical records and ensure compliance with veterinary standards
  • Communicate effectively with clients regarding their pet’s care and treatment plans
  • Collaborate with the wider practice team including veterinary nurses and support staff
  • Contribute to the practice’s commitment to high-quality patient care and animal welfare

Requirements

  • Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) registration as a veterinary surgeon
  • Strong clinical knowledge and confidence in small animal medicine and surgery
  • Professional communication skills and a collaborative approach to working
  • Commitment to continuing professional development and best practice standards
  • Willingness to engage positively with the practice team and client base
