About the Role

This is an exciting part-time opportunity (30 hours per week) working primarily at New Priory Vets’ flagship hospital in central Brighton, with regular cover across two smaller satellite sites. You’ll be based just a 5-minute walk from Brighton train station and 20 minutes from the city centre—perfect if you’re drawn to the vibrant culture, excellent transport links, and outdoor opportunities the South Coast offers.

Your week will include dedicated consulting slots, operating days, inpatient care, and direct client communication, giving you the chance to build a loyal client base while working across a range of general practice cases. Hours will include 30 hours per week, including weekends and bank holidays.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first-opinion veterinary care across medicine and surgery at the Brighton hospital and branch clinics
  • Conduct consultations, perform routine and more complex surgical procedures, and manage inpatient care
  • Work confidently with some sole charge responsibilities at the satellite practices, with full support and escalation pathways available
  • Build strong relationships with clients, many of whom have been with the practice for decades
  • Collaborate with the nursing team and utilise advanced hospital facilities including CT, ultrasound, radiography, and dental equipment
  • Liaise with Brighton Veterinary Referrals (on-site) when specialist expertise is needed

Requirements

  • Qualified veterinary surgeon registered with the RCVS
  • Competence in routine surgery with ideally some experience in more complex procedures
  • Confidence in sole charge work at branch practice level
  • Passionate about both animal and client care
  • Team player with a collaborative approach to clinical practice
