About the Role

Newnham Court Veterinary Hospital is seeking a Twilight Veterinary Surgeon to join their established Day and Emergency & Critical Care team. Working 5pm-1am on a 7 on 7 off rota, you’ll take responsibility for the care and case progression of hospitalized patients, gaining valuable exposure to internal medicine while consulting as part of the evening team. Hospital experience is desirable but not essential—what matters is your ability to manage your time effectively and communicate well with a supportive multi-disciplinary team.

The practice is a Tier 3 accredited hospital in Maidstone, Kent, providing the highest standards of care backed by excellent clinical facilities and equipment. You’ll be working alongside 21 veterinary surgeons with diverse interests and skills, meaning you’ll encounter a wide range of interesting cases across small animal medicine and surgery.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the care and case progression of hospitalized patients during twilight hours (5pm-1am)
• Consult and treat patients as part of the evening clinical team
• Apply strong time management and communication skills in a fast-paced hospital environment
• Work collaboratively with an experienced nursing team (40 RVNs) and veterinary colleagues
• Contribute to high-quality clinical outcomes using the practice’s comprehensive diagnostic and treatment facilities

Requirements

• Qualified veterinary surgeon (RCVS registered)
• Experience in a hospital or clinical setting preferred, but not essential
• Strong communication and time management skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a supportive team
• Flexibility to work twilight shift hours (5pm-1am) on a 7 on 7 off rota
