Veterinary Surgeon

About the Role

This is a day-time veterinary surgeon position at Newnham Court Veterinary Hospital, a Tier 3 accredited facility in Maidstone, Kent. You’ll work 30-40 hours per week on a flexible basis, joining an enthusiastic, forward-thinking team of 21 veterinary surgeons with varied interests and skills. The role offers exposure to a mixed caseload including surgical cases, consulting shifts, and inpatient care.

You’ll collaborate with certificate holders, a large nursing team of 40 RVNs, and skilled administrative support. There’s a genuine opportunity to mentor and support junior vets, sharing your knowledge and passion for high-quality patient care. The practice is exceptionally well equipped with modern diagnostic and surgical technology, enabling you to deliver excellent clinical outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct veterinary consultations, surgical procedures, and inpatient care across a varied caseload
• Work alongside certificate holders and the nursing team to deliver high standards of patient care
• Mentor and support junior veterinary surgeons, sharing clinical knowledge and professional development guidance
• Contribute to the collaborative, supportive team environment and professional culture
• Participate in the day shift schedule (flexible hours, 30-40 hours per week)

Requirements

• Qualified veterinary surgeon (RCVS registered)
• Professional registration and standing with the RCVS
• Experience working in first opinion practice
