About the Role

This is a standalone Sunday opportunity for an RVN passionate about emergency and critical care. You’ll work with a varied OOH caseload across just 26 Sundays per year (roughly 2 in 4), giving you genuine flexibility while keeping your clinical skills sharp. The role is based at Hale Veterinary Hospital in Chippenham—a state-of-the-art facility with ISFM Silver status that handles emergency cases for Nightingale’s own clients plus six member practices.

Chippenham is brilliantly positioned just minutes from the M4 and train station, making it easy to commute. The area sits on the doorstep of the Cotswolds, within reach of Bristol, Bath, and Cardiff—and just an hour from London by train. Perfect if you want countryside charm with city access.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality nursing care to emergency and critical care patients during out-of-hours Sunday shifts
  • Work collaboratively with two veterinary surgeons, a fellow RVN, and a veterinary care assistant
  • Support a varied OOH caseload, making full use of your advanced nursing skills
  • Maintain standards across a busy, RCVS-accredited emergency facility

Requirements

  • Current RCVS registration as a Registered Veterinary Nurse
  • Passion for emergency and critical care nursing
  • Confidence working in a fast-paced OOH environment
  • Ability to work as part of a small, supportive team
