About the Role

You’ll be joining a confident, thriving small animal practice delivering first-opinion care to a loyal and growing client base in Hartlepool. This role offers exposure to a varied and rewarding caseload, backed by experienced colleagues and strong clinical infrastructure that allows cases to be worked up thoroughly and thoughtfully. Whether you’re content with routine consultations and surgery or keen to develop a more senior, mentoring-focused path, there’s scope to shape your role to suit your interests and ambitions.

Full-time hours are available with consideration for part-time flexibility, and you’ll work a structured rota incorporating shared Saturday cover—but importantly, there are no out-of-hours or overnight commitments. The environment actively encourages collaboration, professional development, and consistent standards of patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver first-opinion small animal consultations and surgery to a loyal client base
  • Work cases through from presentation to discharge, ensuring thorough clinical workup
  • Contribute to the practice’s quality standards and clinical protocols
  • Participate in shared Saturday rota cover
  • Collaborate with experienced colleagues and support team
  • Develop clinical expertise and, if interested, mentor and supervise less experienced staff

Requirements

  • Registered Veterinary Surgeon (RCVS)
  • Confidence and competence in small animal first-opinion practice
  • Experience (or willingness to develop) in routine consultations and surgery
  • Professional approach to patient care and clinical standards
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team
