About the Role

This is a part-time position working 20 hours across 3 days per week with a manageable 1:6 weekend rota. You’ll be joining a small animal practice that genuinely values work-life balance alongside clinical excellence. Palmer and Duncan has been serving Ossett since 2000 and has built a reputation for compassionate care delivered by a collaborative, supportive team where many staff have stayed for over a decade.

Based in the West Yorkshire town of Ossett, just minutes from Wakefield and 12 miles from Leeds, the practice offers excellent accessibility to city amenities—theatres, restaurants, sporting venues, and music events—while being nestled near beautiful countryside for outdoor enthusiasts. The M1 junction is close by for easy travel connections.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide small animal veterinary care across soft tissue surgery and medicine with a focus on building strong client relationships
• Work collaboratively within the small team of 8 vets, 9 nurses, and 9 client care staff
• Contribute to the practice’s commitment to delivering compassionate, high-quality patient care
• Engage in ongoing professional development—CPD is actively encouraged
• Participate in the supportive, sociable team environment

Requirements

• Qualified veterinary surgeon with soft tissue surgery and medicine skills
• Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to build client relationships
• Passionate about patient and client care

About the Practice

Palmer and Duncan is an RCVS-accredited small animal practice established in 2000 as Ossett’s first dedicated small animal veterinary surgery. The team of 26 (8 vets, 9 nurses, 9 client care staff) works in a warm, collaborative environment where professional development is encouraged and team wellbeing is prioritised.
