Ready for a role that actually respects your work-life balance? Join Park Vets Cardiff – a supportive team of 20 vets and nurses where no out-of-hours work and a four-day week aren't negotiable.

🕐 Schedule & Rota

No out-of-hours work required. 1:5 Saturday rota only. Overnight patients cared for by on-site RVN Monday-Thursday; out-of-hours calls handled by local provider.

About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity to join an RCVS-accredited small animal practice with three branches across Cardiff. You’ll work full-time (or part-time for the right candidate) across the main hospital and branches on a shared rota, delivering a genuine mix of consulting, surgical, and inpatient care. With no out-of-hours commitments and a manageable 1:5 Saturday rota, this role puts real work-life balance first – something Park Vets genuinely prioritises.

The practice takes a thoughtful approach to patient care: while overnight patients are cared for by an RVN Monday to Thursday, out-of-hours calls are handled by a local provider, meaning you can actually switch off. You’ll enjoy 20-minute consultation slots as standard, dedicated admin time built into your working day, and the practice’s firm belief that lunch breaks are essential, not optional.

Based in Cardiff, you’ll have access to all the amenities of city life – excellent restaurants, events, and attractions – plus easy reach to the Brecon Beacons and the beautiful South Wales coastline.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality first-opinion small animal veterinary care across consulting, operating, and inpatient shifts
  • Work collaboratively across three practice branches, contributing to the team’s shared rota system
  • Support evidence-based medicine and quality improvement culture within the practice
  • Engage with the clinical management team (always on site) and contribute to structured working practices
  • Provide outstanding client communication and service alongside strong colleague support
  • Handle both routine medical and surgical cases with confidence and thoroughness

Requirements

  • Qualified veterinary surgeon (RCVS registered)
  • Strong all-rounder with proven experience in both medical and surgical small animal cases
  • Excellent communication skills with clients and colleagues
  • Team-player mentality with genuine desire to support colleagues
  • Approachable, professional approach to patient and client care
  • Experience level: not specified – confidence in your abilities is what matters

Benefits

  • Salary: Up to £60,000 depending on experience
  • Time off: 25 days holiday plus bank holidays (pro rata)
  • Professional development: £1,750 CPD allowance per annum, plus CPD and training support
  • Memberships: RCVS membership paid plus two additional professional subscriptions
  • Health & wellbeing: Health Shield providing wide-ranging contributions for dentistry, sports massage, and other treatments
  • Family-friendly: Enhanced maternity, paternity, adoption, shared parental leave and surrogacy pay
