About the Role

You’ll join a highly collaborative and effective hospital where teamwork and case discussion are central to how the team works. This full-time temporary role offers 37.5 hours per week with flexible working options available regarding hours and shifts, so you can find an arrangement that suits your life outside work.

Your day will be varied and fast-paced. You’ll deliver nurse consultations, manage inpatient care, dispense medications, and assist in theatre including Schedule 3 surgery. You’ll take pride in maintaining high standards of nursing care while keeping pets calm and owners informed, working as part of a close-knit team to keep things running smoothly. The hospital is modern and well-equipped with separate dog and cat kennelling facilities, in-house radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, piped gases and extensive orthopaedic equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct nurse consultations and provide clinical assessment
  • Manage inpatient care across the hospital’s separate dog and cat kennels
  • Assist in theatre, including Schedule 3 surgery procedures
  • Dispense medications accurately and safely
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and clients to keep pets calm and owners informed
  • Contribute to shared learning and case discussions within the collaborative team
  • Champion PDSA’s charitable values and promote client contributions
  • Identify opportunities for resource efficiency and service improvements

Requirements

  • Current RCVS registration as a Registered Veterinary Nurse
  • Confident communication with a wide range of colleagues and clients
  • Ability to adapt to a wide variety of cases and a busy environment
  • Willingness to share skills, support others, and lead by example
  • Passion for animal welfare and commitment to charitable values
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
