About the Role

This is a permanent full-time position offering genuine variety and clinical challenge. You’ll work across two modern, well-equipped hospitals in North London (Hendon & Edmonton Green), seeing diverse medical and surgical cases that will develop your skills whilst directly supporting vulnerable pet owners. The hospitals feature separate dog and cat kennelling, in-house radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, piped gases and extensive orthopaedic equipment. You’ll be expected to handle realistic treatment planning that balances best practice with each owner’s individual circumstances, taking a pragmatic, welfare-focused approach throughout.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver primary veterinary care across a mixed caseload of medical and surgical patients
  • Conduct clinical examinations, diagnose conditions, and devise evidence-based treatment plans
  • Perform surgical procedures appropriate to your skills and experience
  • Communicate clearly with clients, explaining options and building trust around realistic care choices
  • Collaborate with the nursing and support team to deliver high-quality patient care
  • Participate actively in case discussions and contribute to continuous service improvement
  • Maintain detailed clinical records and comply with RCVS professional standards

Requirements

  • Full UK veterinary qualification (MRCVS or equivalent)
  • RCVS registration as required
  • Ability to adapt to a diverse caseload and varying clinical presentations
  • Strong communication skills and genuine interest in client relationships
  • Collaborative mindset with willingness to share knowledge and learn from colleagues
  • Sound clinical judgement and evidence-based decision-making
  • Resilience and pragmatism when managing welfare-focused care decisions

Benefits

  • Salary: £49,169–£63,962 per annum (including allowances)
  • CPD Support: 5 days’ paid CPD time plus £1,000 annual allowance; full RCVS fees covered
  • CPD Opportunities: Extensive internal CPD programmes plus discounts for BSAVA Congress and London Vet Show
  • Holiday: 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, with option to buy or sell up to 5 additional days
  • Special Days: Three paid special days annually—Volunteering Day, Celebration Day and Wellbeing Day
  • Pension: Generous scheme with PDSA contributions starting at 5% and rising to 10%
  • Life Assurance: Four times annual salary
  • Health & Wellbeing: AXA Health Employee Assistance Programme (24/7 support), private medical cover included
  • Family Support: Enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption leave
